Our aim is to produce Performance American Bulldogs that are of an international standard in conformation, athleticism and working ability. Although our dogs have a very high natural drive they also show a strong bond and protective nature towards their owner and the family. The American Bulldog comes in a variety of colours, our performance bulldogs are predominantly white. This is our personal choice but it also represents the majority of bulldogs of old, if you look back through history. Ideally we strive to produce white dogs with black nose and lips and some black lining or coloured patches around the eyes and ears. This reduces the chance of skin problems and cancer. We believe white dogs stand out more in all situations and if used for hunting are easier to find in the bush.
The ideal Performance Bulldog, in our opinion, is a hybrid with about 60-80% Johnson blood. This breeding seems to produce well structured, tall, long legged, athletic dogs that should be in the ideal weight range of 40-45kg for females and 45-50+ for males. This type of breeding also lengthens the nose a little but still allows for “bulldog” looks with good muscling. The drive and working ability of a dog is in the genetics and we have spent time and money trying to ensure our dogs have the genetic makeup to perform at an elite level.
We intend to compete in all levels and types of competition with these dogs, which includes weight pulling, endurance, agility and K9 Prosports competitions. The performance American Bulldog excels in these sports in many overseas countries.
Our performance dogs are ideal animals for pig hunting and stock handling, which is the work they were originally intended for. As mentioned, although the performance dogs are made for all types of work they are also very loyal and loving members to the family. The temperament of the performance dog is of prime importance to our choice of an animal for breeding stock. We also look for animals with good drive, conformation and courage. The muzzle length and breathing ability is very important in a performance dog as it allows for much easier oxygen inhalation whilst running/working. We have a philosophy in all our breeding to select the traits we desire and then to develop close line breeding programs to bring out the best in an animal.
The performance dogs are kept in peak condition by daily 10km runs, swimming and some weight pull training. All our dogs are fully obedience trained and we select and train dogs for courage work for various competitions.
Security, Personal Protection and guard dog duties are areas we would like to develop with the Performance Bulldog. We intend to do this within all the legislation requirements needed in the state of
We believe the Performance type of American Bulldog is the ultimate, all round dual purpose dog that is suitable for work, sports, protection and also a loving family companion.
We have very carefully selected Johnson American Bulldogs that are large bodied, typical bully type with very wide chests, great muscling and large heads. Our Johnson dogs even though very heavily built are still very active and can still undertake their original working dog ability if required. They are fantastic guard dogs, manly due to their overwhelming presence. They are extremely loyal to all family members and absolutely love to play with and protect children. We believe Johnson Bulldogs are one of the best family dogs that are available.
Compared to our Performance Bulldogs, we have selected our Johnson dogs to have a variety of colour in them. As mentioned we believe the Johnson is the perfect family dog and therefore a variation in colour suites everybody who wishes to own one of these magnificent dogs.
We have been careful to select Johnson dogs with good structure and conformation as we believe this is extremely import with large dogs to ensure they live a long life with no major health problems. In
Again, as we do with all our animal breeding we have chosen the traits we desire and then breed close with family line breeding to bring out the best in the dog. We believe the background breeding in our Johnson Bulldogs is some of the best in the country and we want to strive to continue with producing healthy Johnson American Bulldogs.
Our intention is to breed Johnson Bulldogs that are huge, impressive animals. We want a dog, that when you take it for a walk, everybody stops and comments on how magnificent it is. We have selected dogs with great personality, temperament and loyalty to ensure the progeny will make the ultimate family dog.
